Never Running on Empty
The fridge is empty. So is the cupboard. My belly feels empty too. It is grumbling in fact.
Have these thoughts passed through your head as you begin the Nutritional Challenge today?
You have emptied your refrigerator, only to fill it with all kinds of the freshest fruits and veggies from the Farmer’s Markets in the area. What a great opportunity to get outside, meet your local farmers, support the local community and experience the taste of their labors.
Combine that with some grass-fed beef, quality chicken and pork and farm-fresh eggs and you have yourself a terrific meal, well, several in fact. Remember, you can freeze these fresh items too!
As for the cupboard, you can finally clean the shelves and put your new tupperware supply there, right next to your unopened jar of Almond Butter and Progenex.
Your stomach will growl. Give it water. You probably haven’t taken in enough water and your body is thinking you are hungry. Now, let’s be sure you have of course eaten within the last 1.5 – 3 hours, otherwise, your growls may be warranted.
Stay the course. One day at a time, do not give in to the cravings. They will subside, but you have to have mind over matter. Your body is learning to properly utilize the food you are fueling it with. Pretty cool isn’t it? There are some pretty strong competitors in this challenge and as a coaching staff, we are in on it too. We believe in every single person and honestly, we would love to have 20 winners. So bring it on!
Oh, and here is a game-changer: Before photos will be taken this week. You will want to see the after pics next to the before once the June 30th date rolls around and you are knocking back cocktails and eating grilled meat at our picnic.
To Clarify: minimal sea salt, means if you are adding it to your food, let’s keep it to a pinch. If you are out at a restaurant, you can pretty much guarantee they add salt, even if you ask them not to. So, if you add salt on top of that, -1 point for you. Try to limit your sea salt to 1 pinch between your thumb and pointer finger per meal. That is plenty to keep your electrolytes up in this heat, which is the only reason you are permitted sea salt during these 60 days. Be smart. Check out this article on salt.
Nice work on all of the PR’s at the Tank over the last two weeks. Keep it up! One more day of 1 rep max setting and then we begin some benchmark work with named CrossFit WODs. Fran is up first. Yep.
