Some Comp Time
Good day Raleigh CrossFitters!
I have to say, I took a look at the board today and saw amazing numbers from this week’s clean and jerk performances, as well as the attendance. Wow. That word pretty much sums it up. Now that summer is winding down, it is great to have you all back in action and hitting some impressive numbers. Keep up the great work. Your commitment to training, especially on those strength days, is paying off with personal bests – which should be very rewarding for you all to see as well.
~Competitor Judging Information~
For those wishing to get additional training in for competition purposes, you have already been getting your requirements judged and checked off by a coach. This Saturday and Sunday from 930-1030 (yes that is during a workout) you will have the chance to do any movement you have missed thus far. You will not be participating in that day’s workout, but instead warming up and performing the required movements on the list. Please be sure to note the board at The Tank. Some of the items are scheduled to be completed during a regular training day. For example, tomorrow, Aug. 9, you will be able to record your PR in the power snatch.
Once you have completed your judging sheet, you will be given the schedule for additional training.
We want you to set goals and do the work to achieve them. With that being said, we have set up these standards to ensure that you do so. If your goal is to compete, you will have to be able to perform certain movements, as well as perform them using certain weights or meet specific standards. Put in the time to achieve these goals, to include completing your judging sheet and you will be rewarded with the confidence of solid preparation for further competitions.
~Noteworthy Items~
As the summer comes to an end, I also want to make you aware of a Raleigh CrossFit tradition and some other noteworthy items.
Barbells For Boobs
Please register for Barbells For Boobs/Amazing Grace. If you have not done this event in the past, it is a tradition at Raleigh CrossFit that each October, we take on “Grace” (30 Clean and Jerks for Time) and in doing so, create a fundraising event for Mammograms in Action. The catch is, since it is close to Halloween and in honor of supporting the fundraising efforts of M.I.A., we encourage everyone to perform the workout in a costume or in all pink. Last year, we had some pretty amazing costumes. Some will remember a fairy, a couple of lumberjacks, CrossFit grannies – check out the photo at the top of this page, a soccer player, the Incredible Hulk, football player and even a cow. Yes, it is fun to wear something different and step out of your comfort zone for such a great cause. And really, why wouldn’t you want to perform 30 clean and jerks with fairy wings on or with cow utters on your belly? Additionally, CrossFit Clayton will be joining us. Now, that is a party!
We will have everyone vote for best costume this year via ballot. The winner will receive something… Additionally, if you raise $80 after you register, you will receive a commemorative Barbells For Boobs t-shirt. You’ve probably seen some of your fellow Raleigh CrossFitters rockin’ one of these from last year.
This is probably one of the most exciting fundraising workouts we schedule all year, so don’t miss the chance to join in. Register here. Be sure to select Raleigh CrossFit as your affiliate.
