About CrossFit Kids

CrossFit Kids is not simply a scaled down version of CrossFit, it is entirely absolutely CrossFit geared and designed for a special population and the specific developmental needs of that population. (neurological, cognitive, motor)

Since Late 2004 CrossFit Kids has been Forging The Future Of Fitness and is currently in over 400 gyms in North America, Australia, Europe, Africa, India, Japan and Panama. CrossFit Kids is a strength and conditioning program that is specifically designed for kids and teenagers and helps them develop a lifelong love of fitness. In a group setting, children and teens participate in fun and engaging workouts that deliver measurable results and prepare them to be well- rounded athletes. With a network of over 2000 CrossFit Kids Trainers, CrossFit Kids is being implemented in preschools to high schools with before-and-after school programs and integration into Physical Education curriculum. CrossFitKids.com contains thousands of archived workouts, video demonstrations and informative articles that provide interested parents or teachers with a foundation for understanding how the CrossFit Kids program can be implemented at home or at school.

CrossFit Kids workouts consist of constantly varied, functional movements that deliver a fitness that is broad, inclusive and general and scalable for any participant at any level.

What does this mean?
This means that, for the most part, no two workouts are the same, so kids and teens never get bored and the novelty of each workout keeps them excited about participating.

The functional movements involve exercises that are fundamental to all things that kids need to do when they play-pull, push, run, throw, climb, lift and jump. All of the movements are taught safely and effectively under the close supervision of thoroughly trained CrossFit Kids Trainers.

When fitness is defined as broad, inclusive and general it means that participants will become well-rounded athletes who will be better at any and every sport that they play because CrossFit Kids doesn’t coach them to be good at just one thing.
Our workouts will increase physical competence in 10 fitness domains: Cardiovascular and Respiratory Endurance, Stamina, Strength, Flexibility, Power, Speed, Coordination, Agility, Balance, and Accuracy.

With workouts that are scalable, CrossFit Kids can equally benefit a person who is less active or an accomplished athlete by tailoring workouts so that each participant is challenged just enough to deliver measurable results and personal athletic progress.

CROSSFIT KIDS RALEIGH CLASS RULES

Making fitness fun for everyone is our number one goal.  In order to achieve fun and fitness, we have a few rules for kids and parents to follow.

CrossFit Kids Raleigh Rules for Kids

  • “Freeze!” means stop right away, no matter what you are doing.
  • No swinging from or playing on any equipment unless instructed
  • You must stay inside the activity area at all times.
  • No running outside by yourself at any time during class.
  • If you aren’t following the rules you will have to sit out of the game.
  • Have fun!

CrossFit Kids Raleigh Rules for Adults

  • Adults are cheerleaders, not coaches.  Positive cheering is encouraged; giving direction/cues is not.
    • Absolutely NO CELL PHONES.  Please put your phone on vibrate before the start of class and take the calls outside if needed.
    • Stay outside of designated activity areas.
    • Be on time so your kids can get properly warmed up.
    • Please make us aware of any injuries or changes in your child’s health that might affect them during CrossFit kids.
    • Please help pick up the gym after class.
    • Class is 30-45 minutes in length. Please be prompt in picking up your child. We are not a daycare. Also, please provide reading and or activity materials for your child to complete while waiting to be picked up or for you to finish working out.
    • Children are not permitted in the main workout area.
    • You must hand off your child directly to Chennelle or Bobby – no other Raleigh CrossFit coach is permitted to take your child to the CrossFit Kids class – AT ANY TIME.

If you have any questions or concerns please talk to Chennelle or Bobby after class or call anytime at 919.229.4075.

POLICY & PROCEDURES

Attendance

Attendance is the key to progress.  Each athlete will be logged in by the parent when handed off to Coach Chennelle or Coach Bobby.

The athletes must come to class on time.  Everyone should come at least 5 minutes early so that they may go to the bathroom, clean up, get changed, and be ready for class.  Kids will not be allowed to join if they are late.  Because of the fast nature of the class activities and the performance of athletic exercises, it is crucial they come on time so that they are not lost during the class and can participate in the warm up and stretching

Viewing classes

We are happy to have parents sit in on classes.  We welcome cheering and encouragement during games, drills, etc.  However, to promote a consistent learning environment we do ask parents to refrain from correcting their child during class.

Also, children are not permitted in the main Raleigh CrossFit training area at any time.  There are too many pieces of equipment to cause injury without proper supervision. In addition, this is the adult time to workout and therefore you as the parent, should be focusing on your training.  Please provide items for your child to read, do homework or other to keep them busy while you finish up with your workout.  You do not have to be present for your child to participate in the CrossFit Kids Raleigh program, but please be prompt in picking up and dropping of your child.  If you are concurrently participating in a workout, while your child is doing the Kids program, you must go to the Kids area to pick up your child.  They are not permitted in the main training area – AT ANY TIME.

Pick up and Drop off

For the safety of your child, we ask that you come inside the Raleigh CrossFit training center to pick up and drop off your child after class.  We are aware that this might be an inconvenience, but we are more concerned with safety.  With the high volume traffic and with classes ending late in the evening we will not allow students to wait outside by themselves. The CrossFit Kids Raleigh entrance is located at the front of the building – not the rear entrance where the adults enter for regular CrossFit classes.

Dress code

Athletes are responsible for coming to class in proper gym attire, including shorts, t-shirt and sneakers. Please also provide clothing that can be worn outside either for the cold or warm weather.  Athletes will be not be allowed to participate in class if they are missing all or part of their gym attire.

Lost and Found

If you leave something behind, we have a lost and found located in the Raleigh CrossFit office.

Support

If you are involved in a school, youth program, sports program or other organization that you feel would benefit from exposure to the CrossFit Kids Raleigh program, please let us know.  We truly appreciate your help in getting the word out about CrossFit Kids Raleigh.  If you would like to set up a demonstration, talk, special event or seminar please contact us for more information.  Also, we are always happy to donate gift certificates for the CrossFit Kids Raleigh and adult Raleigh CrossFit classes for your fundraiser events.

Extended Absence and Termination

If you will be missing class for an extended period of time due to vacations or other reasons, please make sure to put a suspension on your membership.  This must be done in writing via email to info@raleigh-crossfit.com 30 days prior to your billing date.  Verbal notification does not guarantee a suspension.
